Washington/New Delhi: In a resounding testament to India’s unwavering resolve against terrorism, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has declared that the nation has garnered “total support and solidarity” from lawmakers across the globe in its fight against terror. Tharoor, leading an all-party delegation on a global outreach campaign, including “Operation Sindoor,” emphasized the international community’s unified condemnation of Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
During his visit to the US, Tharoor engaged in comprehensive discussions with Vice President JD Vance, covering crucial issues from counter-terrorism to technological cooperation. He described the exchange as “truly constructive and productive,” aimed at fortifying the India-US strategic partnership.
The Indian delegation reported that their interactions in various countries unequivocally demonstrated a profound lack of sympathy for Pakistan and overwhelming support for India’s resolute stance on cross-border terrorism. Tharoor, addressing a press conference, stated their mission was to elucidate India’s recent experiences and seek solidarity. He expressed immense satisfaction, noting, “every single person we have met so far has immediately not only condemned resolutely the terrorist attack upon India and expressed their outrage and their sympathy, but they have also explicitly endorsed India’s right to defend itself against terrorism.”
Tharoor highlighted the Pahalgam terror attack as a grave disruption amidst Kashmir’s burgeoning economic and social optimism, detailing India’s measured military response and eventual ceasefire. He starkly questioned Pakistan’s global credibility, referencing undeniable facts about the origins of major terror attacks and listed terrorist organizations, stating, “All of this is incontrovertible stuff, and so they know.” Former Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, accompanying the delegation, underscored the global ramifications of India’s anti-terror efforts.
Meanwhile, in Islamabad, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, addressing an event at the US Embassy, lauded Donald Trump for his alleged role in de-escalating tensions with India—a claim New Delhi has consistently denied. Sharif reiterated calls for Washington to facilitate comprehensive dialogue between the nuclear-armed neighbors, echoing former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s prior assertions of Trump’s “credit” in fostering the ceasefire.
Adding another layer to the narrative, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump reportedly discussed global issues, including the India-Pakistan conflict, during a phone call. Kremlin Aide Yury Ushakov stated that the conflict “was stopped with the personal participation of President Trump,” though specific details remained undisclosed.
