Amid escalating tensions over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has accused UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband of “Jew hate” following Miliband’s remarks on the blockade of medicines and humanitarian supplies into the region. Miliband expressed concern over the dire conditions in Gaza, highlighting reports from aid workers about children dying due to a lack of essential medical treatment. He urged the UK government to take stronger measures to address the humanitarian crisis in the area.
Huckabee dismissed Miliband’s comments, alleging that the British government was making baseless accusations against Israel. In line with Huckabee, Israel’s Foreign Ministry also denied any restrictions on the entry of medicines into Gaza, accusing Miliband of spreading misleading narratives. Despite these denials, humanitarian organizations consistently report challenges in delivering vital supplies to Gaza, citing shortages of medical supplies and restrictions that impede the functioning of hospitals.
This dispute arises shortly after Miliband announced that Britain plans a “comprehensive reset” of its policy toward Israel. This reset is anticipated to involve measures concerning Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. The UK government has previously criticized Israel for limiting humanitarian aid access to Gaza, advocating for greater availability of essential supplies.
