Chasing 295, Zimbabwe faced early setbacks, losing four wickets quickly. However, a spirited 98-run stand between Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza briefly revived their hopes. Ervine was eventually dismissed for 59 by Nathan Ellis, who returned with a crucial spell to dismantle Zimbabwe’s chase.
Raza contributed 57 before falling to Spencer Johnson, as Zimbabwe’s momentum waned. Ellis played a pivotal role in cleaning up the lower order, finishing with remarkable figures of 5-31 in 9.1 overs, ensuring Australia’s dominant performance.
The teams will meet again in Harare for the second ODI on Friday, with the concluding match of the series scheduled for Sunday. Australia will look to maintain their winning form, while Zimbabwe aims to bounce back and level the series.
